Tourists visiting Germany receive crucial guidance from the country's embassy
In Turkey, German tourists can enjoy peace of mind during their vacation, thanks to the YUPASS system. This innovative healthcare programme allows for free emergency treatment in the event of an unexpected medical incident.
To avail of the YUPASS system, tourists first need to apply for a claim certificate from their German health insurance company. Once obtained, they can use this certificate, along with their ID card, to access both state health facilities and private clinics with an SGK contract in Turkey.
However, it's important to note that only treatments deemed medically necessary within a 24-hour period are covered by the YUPASS system. Any other treatments not considered emergencies must be paid for by the tourist.
In private clinics with an SGK contract, costs may exceed the agreed rates by a maximum of 200 percent. For this reason, the German Embassy recommends taking out private travel health insurance in addition to the YUPASS system.
For vacationers in Antalya and Bodrum, the DVKA has listed the most important SGK addresses in its brochure. These offices provide access to Turkish social security services, ensuring medical coverage during your stay. Tourists can find these offices through the Turkish Social Security Institution's official website or local consulates.
Alternatively, if a tourist does not have a YUPASS number, all costs are at their expense. To obtain the YUPASS number, they simply need to submit their claim certificate to an SGK branch office in Turkey, which can be found on the website www.sgk.gov.tr.
In private clinics, additional costs are borne by the patient. It's crucial to consider this factor when choosing a healthcare provider during your stay in Turkey.
By following these guidelines, German tourists can enjoy a worry-free vacation, knowing they have access to essential healthcare services should the need arise.
