New Toyota Supra and Celica: What We Know So Far

Rumours and speculations are swirling around the automotive world as both the iconic Toyota Supra and Celica are rumoured to make a comeback. Here's what we know about these much-anticipated models.

The fifth-generation Toyota Supra is reportedly in the works, and it's rumoured to pack a punch with over 500 horsepower. The new Supra will share its four-cylinder engine with the BMW Z4, as BMW will be the manufacturer of the electrically driven engine. However, unlike the Supra's BMW-made six-cylinder engine in the past, the new Supra will be equipped with a four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor. The electric motor will be positioned behind the driver and passenger seats.

As for the Supra's transmission, enthusiasts can look forward to both a 6-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed automatic option. The price of the new Supra has yet to be officially announced.

Meanwhile, the return of the Celica is also on the horizon. If produced, the new Celica will follow the Alpine A110's rear-mid engine layout. It's rumoured to have a carbon fiber roof and front and rear hoods, and a power output of around 400 horsepower. Like the Supra, the new Celica will offer both a 6-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed automatic.

The new Celica is anticipated to be showcased in Tokyo in 2027, with production starting in 2028. If produced, the new Celica is expected to generate more excitement among enthusiasts due to its historical significance and absence from the market for over a decade.

The prices of both the new Supra and Celica, if they become reality, are expected to fall between $60,000 to $75,000. It's important to note that neither the Supra nor the Celica have had their prices officially announced.

Both the new Supra and Celica remain in the realm of rumours for now, with no official confirmation from Toyota. The rumoured release or showcase of the new Supra might occur in 2027, according to some reports. The new Celica, if produced, is not expected to be showcased or produced before 2028.

The absence of official announcements has not dampened the enthusiasm of Toyota enthusiasts, who eagerly await the return of these iconic models. As more information becomes available, we'll be sure to keep you updated. Stay tuned!
