New Street Opens in Leipzig, Enhancing Connectivity

Leipzig, Germany, is seeing a new addition to its road network with the opening of a new street, Preußenseite. This new street extends the existing Preußenseite and is set to improve connectivity in the city.

The new street branching off from the intersection of Berliner Straße and Roscher Straße will be connected to the public transportation network by the end of September. This development is noteworthy, particularly due to its connection to the main station.

The architect responsible for the design of the new street section, Preußenseite, is Christoph Mäckler. The new street will not only better connect the new gymnasium on the western side of the main station but will also serve other purposes beyond this connection.

The intersection of Berliner Straße/Roscher Straße, which has undergone significant changes, will reopen to traffic on September 10th. The road surface in the intersection area has been repaired, and a fixed traffic light now controls traffic at the intersection.

One of the freestanding stone pillars has been moved to the eastern side of the intersection, while the two obelisks at the intersection with Berliner Straße will be restored in the coming days. An additional crossing has been built for cyclists entering Preußenseite, making it easier for them to traverse both Berliner Straße and Roscherstraße.

For those interested in the latest updates on construction sites, closures, and traffic restrictions in Leipzig's road network, the website www.leipzig.de/baustellen is a valuable resource. Here, you can find up-to-date information on the ongoing changes in the city's infrastructure.

The protected obelisks will serve as a representative entrance to the Löwitzquartier neighborhood, adding a touch of history and elegance to the new street. The new street's opening is a significant step forward in enhancing the connectivity and mobility within Leipzig.
