Tragedy in Eppendorf: Fire leads to fatal outcomes
In the quiet neighbourhood of Eppendorf, Bochum, a devastating event unfolded early this morning. A fire broke out in a multi-family house on Weidenhagen Street, as reported by the Fire Department Bochum via news aktuell.
The first signs of the fire were noticed around 7 a.m., but upon arrival, there were no visible signs of fire or smoke, only the sounding smoke alarm. Firefighters from the Wattenscheid fire station were quickly dispatched to the scene.
As the firefighters forced their way into the affected apartment, they were met with thick black smoke. The fire had spread to parts of the furniture in the apartment, and the team found the lifeless body of a resident. Tragically, a doctor confirmed the woman's death after she was rescued.
During the firefighting operations, the lifeless bodies of a dog and a cat were also discovered. The cause of the fire has not been publicly disclosed at this time.
The fire was extinguished after approximately 1.5 hours by 35 firefighters, rescue service personnel, and the Eppendorf-HΓΆntrop volunteer fire brigade.
