The update concerns the death of a 10-year-old girl who was severely injured in the accident. The girl passed away in a clinic on Friday afternoon, 6th June. The current investigations suggest that the driver of a BMW, approaching from the left from Sudetenstraße, drove through a red light and hit the pedestrians.

After a part of the school group had crossed the road of Frechener Straße at the pedestrian crossing, the second group was waiting for the next green phase. It is unclear whether the second group was aware of the approaching BMW before the accident.
