Transfer of Control at Butz Inn in Wörth

The historic Butz tavern in Wörther, a cultural symbol of the town, has a new owner. Matthias Kulzer, the recently announced proprietor, has expressed his enthusiasm about working with the existing team at the establishment.

The transfer of ownership was finalized, marking the end of a joint operation between the city of Wörth an der Donau and the district. The Butz was not initially intended to be owned by the district, but due to the ensemble nature of the property, it became part of the land acquired for hospital expansion in 2019.

Mayor Josef Schuetz sees this new ownership as an opportunity to preserve the tradition of the Butz, as well as set new impulses for its future. The goal of the joint operation, which has run the tavern for several years, was to preserve the Butz as a traditional tavern, including a butcher shop and guesthouse, and to secure approximately 30 jobs.

Matthias Kulzer, the new owner, plans to bring more events, particularly in the areas of culture and music, to the Butz. However, he did not provide any details about his plans beyond bringing more events and potentially adding new team members.

The initial financing, including interest, ancillary costs, and rent, has been repaid. District Councilor Tanja Schweiger expressed gratitude for the support of the Wörther city council and district council, especially from Hospital Director Martin Rederer and Mayor Schuetz.

The transfer of ownership was initially planned for January 1, 2023, but was delayed due to the corona pandemic and energy crisis. No details were provided about the timeline for the transfer of ownership or the specific terms of the sale.
