Transformed fitness routine from intense bootcamps to hot yoga sessions, shifting my perspective on exercise

In the heart of Surrey, UK, a 40-45-year-old individual embarked on a new fitness journey, stepping into the tranquil sanctuary of Bodhi Eden. This adrenaline junkie, known for their high-intensity treadmill bootcamps and resistance training, decided to try something differentβ€”hot yoga.

The individual chose hot yoga to increase flexibility, a decision that has proven fruitful. After a month of practicing the Hot Hot 90 session, a variant of the Bikram yoga series, they've noticed significant improvements in their flexibility and even a reduction in bloating around their stomach area.

The Hot Hot 90 session, performed in a heated room typically between 80-100Β°F, is designed to improve strength, mobility, flexibility (most notably in the spine), and balance. The individual has been consistently attending this session twice a week.

The first few weeks were challenging, with muscle soreness the day after each session, a clear indication of the continued challenge to the muscles. However, with regular practice, the yoga poses have become more manageable. The individual attributes this progress to their dedication and the zen environment that hot yoga provides.

In addition to the physical benefits, the individual has experienced less stress and fewer instances of rushing around. The 90-minute sessions offer a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of life, allowing them to focus on their wellbeing. Moreover, they've skipped intense, high-cortisol workouts, further contributing to their reduced stress levels.

The individual's calm demeanour has also extended to their personal life. They've become more patient with their six-year-old twins, finding themselves less prone to rushing around.

Apart from hot yoga, the individual has also made lifestyle changes that have contributed to their improved health. They've been consuming less wine, a decision that has likely helped with their reduced bloating.

For those considering a foray into yoga, the individual suggests starting with basic beginner stretches before committing to an in-person hot yoga class. They also emphasise the importance of cushioning during home yoga sessions, making a guide to the best yoga mats a valuable resource.

The individual's journey didn't stop in Surrey. They also practiced hot yoga at Mahalaya Yoga, located at 76-78 Boxhagener Straße, Berlin. The individual continues to reap the benefits of hot yoga and plans to continue practicing to maintain their newfound flexibility and overall wellbeing.
