In the world of cycling, two innovative kits are making waves – the Argo kit and the Fy-Kit. These systems, designed by Scott Taylor, aim to democratize cargo bikes, allowing more people to enjoy their inherent versatility.

The Argo kit is specifically designed for city bikes, shorter travel, and lockable MTB's, but not for downhill bikes. It can be used on full suspension bikes, but it's advised to avoid big hitter or DH and Freeride types as the ride may be less than optimal. The kit includes a lever suitable for a flat bar, which can be swapped with an existing brake if needed. The Argo kit runs a hydraulic disc up front and a 180mm disc, and it's compatible with 9mm, 12mm, and 15mm axle standards, covering quick release to super boost at 15mm.

The Argo kit is a mail order kit that can be built at home. However, for the installation of the Zeno hydraulic split system, it's recommended to visit a bike shop. The total payload limit of the Argo kit is 68kg.

On the other hand, the Fy, a cargo bike setup using the Argo kit, is priced at $1399. This is half the entry-level price for one of the best cargo bikes. The Fy's cargo box is made from phenolic plywood, which is waterproof, paint-free, stronger, and more sustainable. The frame of the Fy is made from 6061 aluminum tubing for added control and durability. The Fy includes a steel kickstand and hydraulic disc brakes that are compatible with e-bikes.

The Argo kit claims to convert almost any bike into a cargo bike, with the system affixed at the bottom bracket instead of the fork. The Fy aims to democratize cargo bikes, making them more accessible to a wider audience.

As with any bike modification, it's essential to ensure compatibility and consult with a professional if necessary. With the Argo kit and the Fy-Kit, the world of cargo biking is now more accessible than ever.
