In the picturesque organic model region of Passauer Oberland, a significant event took place in June 2025, titled 'Bio - ist das für mich?'. This event, supported by the organic model region, local agricultural associations, and regional environmental organisations, attracted a large number of attendees, confirming the growing interest in organic farming in Lower Bavaria.

Over 50 agricultural operations were present, including Josef Höflsauer, a Bioland operation with poultry and arable farming from Hohenthann/Volkenschwand, who shared authentic insights into his daily operations. Participants also had the opportunity to learn from Michael Lobinger from the school for organic farming in Landshut, who discussed the process of converting to organic farming and provided information on regional contact partners and support offers.

The event offered not only factual information on market conditions and funding but also practical perspectives for conversion-interested operations. Holger Reising from LfL presented a compact overview of the current market situation for organic grains, meat, and eggs, while Peter Huber from BBV Lower Bavaria presented specific offers for organic operations from the farmers' association.

Johannes Hoffmann from AELF Landau a.d. Isar-Pfarrkirchen detailed possible funding programs for conversion to organic farming, and Johannes Pfell, a bio-dairy farmer from Obernzell, openly spoke about challenges and opportunities of conversion to organic farming.

The market for organic products is present, and the demand for regional organic products is increasing. Maria Hohenester (LVO) presented organic farming associations active in Bavaria and their services, while the conclusion of the Lower Bavarian organic model regions affirmed the success of the event in offering resources for farmers considering conversion to organic farming.

The event was a resounding success in providing conversion-interested operations with practical perspectives and direct contact to experts and professional colleagues. The 'Bio - ist das für mich?' event was supported by various organisations, including AELF, the school for organic agriculture in Landshut, LfL, BBV, and LVO, solidifying the collaborative spirit in promoting organic farming in Lower Bavaria.

In conclusion, the high attendance at the event confirmed the relevance of the topic in the region and the BioRegio operational network's demand for its low-threshold and practice-oriented format. The event provided valuable information and resources for agricultural operations considering conversion to organic farming, further emphasising the growing interest and potential for organic farming in Lower Bavaria.
