Traton forms partnerships with Volvo and Daimler in a venture
In a significant stride towards sustainable transportation, Volvo Trucks and EVBoosters have announced a joint project aimed at revolutionising electric long-distance freight transport. The ambitious initiative requires an investment of €500 million and plans to install and operate 4,000 fast-charging points at 1,700 locations.
The project, spearheaded by the Editorial Board EVBoosters, focuses on electric long-distance freight transport. The fast-charging points will be strategically situated on and near freeways, making them easily accessible for long-haul trucks.
Volvo Trucks will support and finance the project with their next-generation electric long-haul truck. This truck is capable of travelling up to 600 km on a single charge and will benefit from fast charging services like Charging Management and Open Charge.
One of the key aspects of this project is the supply of renewable energy to the charging points. This move towards sustainable energy sources aligns with the project's mission to minimise carbon emissions and promote eco-friendly transportation.
With this initiative, Volvo Trucks and EVBoosters aim to make electric long-distance freight transport a viable and efficient option, contributing to a greener future for transportation. The project is expected to set a new standard in sustainable transportation, inspiring similar initiatives worldwide.
