Trent Alexander-Arnold nearly sets up a breathtaking goal for his Real Madrid teammate, Kylian Mbappe, only a day post his exclusion from Thomas Tuchel's England squad.

In a thrilling LaLiga clash on Saturday night, Trent Alexander-Arnold made his mark for his new club, Real Madrid, against Mallorca. The English right-back provided a sensational assist to Kylian Mbappe, although it was ruled offside by the linesman and not officially counted as an assist.

Alexander-Arnold, who transferred to the Spanish capital this summer after 21 years at Liverpool, returned to Xabi Alonso's starting XI for the game. His performance was his best of the season so far, but he was substituted in the 72nd minute for Dani Carvajal.

Real Madrid emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline, thanks to goals from Arda Guler and Vinicius Jr. in the first half. The win extended their perfect record in the LaLiga this season, making it three wins from three. As a result, Real Madrid now sit at the top of the LaLiga table.

Meanwhile, Barcelona, who have a 100% win record this season, did not play this weekend. They will travel to Rayo Vallecano for their final match before the international break.

Interestingly, Alexander-Arnold was not included in England's 24-man shortlist for the World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia. Reece James was the only natural right back selected for the squad. The Liverpool-born defender was also left out of Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad, missing the opportunity to make an impact on the international stage.

Despite the early promise, Alexander-Arnold has not yet caught fire at Real Madrid. The assist to Mbappe was a reminder of his potential, but it remains to be seen how he will perform consistently in the coming games.

With Real Madrid off to a strong start in the LaLiga, Alexander-Arnold will be eager to secure his place in the starting XI and help his new club maintain their lead at the top of the table.
