Trial Commences for Frankenthal Mother's Brutal Assault: Two Years Since the Heinous Act

In the heart of Frankenthal, Germany, the local court began a trial on Tuesday for the severe bodily harm inflicted upon Anna Starzetz, a 33-year-old mother, in a brutal attack on August 31, 2023.

The incident took place at the Jakobsplatz, a bustling public square. During the attack, a woman shouted at Anna, pulled her by the hair, threw her to the ground, and punched her in the head. The harrowing incident left Anna severely injured, with her doctor initially fearing she might lose sight in one eye.

Anna, who is the chairwoman of the parents' council at the comprehensive school and sits on the executive board of the CDU in the district, was present with her nine-year-old son during the attack. Thankfully, a nearby resident, a man and his wife, came to her aid. The woman took care of the children, while the man pulled the attacker away from Anna. However, the attacker's companion then hit the man on the head.

The attack has a political dimension, given Anna's prominent role in the community. Since the incident, police officers and employees of the Municipal Enforcement Service have been patrolling the area more frequently. Initially, Mayor Bernd Knöppel (CDU) proposed an alcohol ban and CCTV surveillance in the area, but these plans have been temporarily shelved.

In the courtroom, Anna Starzetz is the injured party and co-plaintiff. The trial is against two defendants: a 46-year-old woman and her 36-year-old companion at the time. GΓΆtz Stuckensen, the lawyer for the 46-year-old defendant, has not yet confirmed if she will make a statement in court. Volker Hoffmann is the lawyer representing the second defendant.

Four witnesses are scheduled to testify on Tuesday. Anna Starzetz is grateful to the man who came to her aid, as she believes she might not be alive without him. The man was also temporarily unable to work after the incident. Anna herself was on sick leave for two months following the attack.

After the trial's outcome, Anna Starzetz's lawyer, Elmar Buschbacher, plans to consider suing for damages. Anna sought publicity and reported the incident on the internet and turned to the press, as there was no sign of a trial even a year after the incident, despite the personal details of the suspected attacker being known to the authorities.

The search results do not contain information about the name of the 46-year-old woman involved in the court case for serious bodily injury related to the incident at Jakobsplatz in Frankenthal on August 31, 2023. The trial continues, and justice for Anna Starzetz is eagerly awaited.
