US President Donald Trump made a surprise visit to the US Open tennis tournament in New York on Sunday, causing a delay in the men's final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

The match, which was originally scheduled to start at 14:00 local time (2:00 PM), was delayed due to enhanced security measures for the President's visit. The match eventually started at 15:19 local time (3:19 PM).

The US Open, a Grand Slam tennis tournament, takes place at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens. The Arthur Ashe Stadium, which can accommodate nearly 24,000 spectators, was subject to more thorough bag inspections and additional checks before entry. Visitors and media representatives were also subject to more controls on the final day of the tournament.

A contingent of the Secret Service has been deployed around the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center to ensure the President's safety. Media representatives were checked by security personnel at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The rescheduling of the men's final was to give spectators time to take their seats and allow for the increased security measures. The match was initially delayed to about 14:30 local time (2:30 PM) before starting closer to 15:19 local time.

Trump's visit to the US Open is not the first high-profile sporting event he has attended since his election victory in November last year. He also visited the Club World Cup final in football, which took place near New York. However, it is important to note that the Club World Cup final is not a Grand Slam tennis tournament and is not related to the US Open.

The men's final between Sinner, an Italian player, and Alcaraz, a Spanish player, was moved back by half an hour due to the enhanced security measures. The Club World Cup final in football, on the other hand, did not take place at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Trump has been known to attend various high-profile sporting events, and his visit to the US Open has led to increased security measures at the tournament. Despite the delay, the US Open continues to be one of the most anticipated events in the tennis calendar, with fans eagerly awaiting the outcome of the men's final.
