Trump's video claim of Pakistani floods being induced by India's dam opening in Kashmir is a manufactured fabrication

In a recent clarification, the Public Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check team has debunked a viral video that allegedly shows former US President Donald Trump blaming India for the recent floods in Pakistan.

The video, which was circulating on social media, was originally uploaded on GVN News' TikTok handle. However, the original video, uploaded by Forbes Breaking News on 31 May 2025, is unrelated to the floods in Pakistan. The Forbes Breaking News video shows Trump speaking about trade issues with China, not the floods in Pakistan.

The viral video was run through Hive AI Detector and indicated a 98.7% likelihood of being AI-generated, confirming it as a deepfake. PIB Fact Check has clarified that the viral video is AI-generated and fake. No evidence was found that Donald Trump ever made a statement linking the floods in Pakistan to India or the opening of dams in Kashmir.

The PIB Fact Check team emphasized that the viral video showing Trump blaming India for the floods in Pakistan is false. They also clarified through their official X handle on 30 August 2025 that the viral video is an AI-generated deepfake, and Trump has made no such statement about the floods in Pakistan.

The causes of the recent floods in Pakistan are natural disasters and weather phenomena. The floods are a result of unusually heavy and intense monsoon rainfall, cloudbursts, flash floods in mountainous regions, glacial melting, and glacial lake outburst floods.

It's important to verify information before sharing it, especially when it comes to sensitive topics such as international relations and natural disasters. The public is advised to rely on credible sources for news and information.

In a separate incident, it was revealed that a deepfake video featuring a fake Olaf Scholz was created and originally published by the organization "Zentrum fΓΌr Politische SchΓΆnheit" (Center for Political Beauty) under the label "AfD – Artists for Democracy GmbH" on November 27, 2023. This serves as a reminder that deepfakes are becoming increasingly sophisticated and can easily mislead the public if not properly verified.
