In a strategic move to boost production capacity and strengthen Turkey's global competitive position in the defense industry, MKE, a leading Turkish defense manufacturer, is embarking on a series of transformative investments.

One of the key projects is the establishment of a 155mm artillery shell production facility in Poland. Despite limited information available, MKE's participation in the MSPO 2025 exhibition, one of Europe's largest defense industry events, hints at the potential Polish factory being part of MKE's broader strategy to expand in the global defense industry.

The development was confirmed by MKE's Deputy General Manager, Tolga Celik, during the MSPO 2025, which was held from September 2-5 in Kielce.

Meanwhile, MKE is simultaneously pursuing domestic expansion projects valued at $818 million across 10 factories and three facilities. One such project is the strategic conversion of an idle former sugar factory in Samsun's Carsamba district into a Nitroguanidine production facility. This flagship investment, spanning over 4.7 million square meters, is the first of its kind in the defense industry and ranks as the third largest investment across all sectors in Turkey.

Construction on the Energetic Materials Factory is progressing at full pace, with the project having reached its final decision phase. With these investments, Turkey's dependence on foreign sources for explosives will be completely eliminated.

MKE's global reach is evident in its exports to 105 countries, with reported revenue exceeding $1.2 billion in 2024. The company aims to strengthen Turkey's position as a global defense industry player through technology transfer and international production partnerships.

However, there is currently no available information on the cooperation between MKE and Poland regarding the establishment of the 155mm artillery shell production facility, nor on other countries MKE may consider as potential partners for similar projects.

As MKE continues to make strides in the defense industry, it remains to be seen how these investments will shape Turkey's role in the global market.
