Tussle Amongst Family Members of Polish and German Origin: Incidents of Bodily Harm and Harassment
On August 28, 2025, an altercation took place on Ahlmannshof Street in Gelsenkirchen involving three individuals: a 39-year-old man with no fixed address, a 17-year-old Gelsenkirchen resident, and his 18-year-old cousin.
During the altercation, the suspect, who is the step-uncle of the threatened individual and allegedly the biological father of the 17-year-old, threatened to kill the 18-year-old victim. The suspect also appeared to be under the influence of intoxicants.
The 17-year-old victim was thrown to the ground during the argument and sustained a fractured hand. The 18-year-old victim was also threatened but managed to escape unharmed.
Following the altercation, both victims were taken to a hospital for treatment. The suspect was temporarily detained by the Gelsenkirchen Police department.
The cause of the altercation could not be determined at the scene. The suspect claimed not to know the 17-year-old victim.
