Two individuals who were victimized by a convicted sexual predator are filing lawsuits against the Norwalk-La Mirada School District.

The Norwalk-La Mirada School District is facing a lawsuit from two victims who allege they were sexually abused by former teacher Scott Waln. Dominique Boubion, an attorney with the Carrillo Law Firm, is representing the victims in the lawsuit.

One of the victims, who was 11 years old and in the sixth grade at Los Alisos Middle School, was sexually abused by Waln. The traumatic experience made it difficult for her to constantly pass by Waln while still a student at the school.

Another student accused Waln of sexual abuse in 2022, leading to his arrest. This is not the first time Waln has been accused of such behaviour. In 2021, another former student's mother joined the lawsuit against the district, as her daughter was also touched by Waln.

The lawsuit alleges that the district failed to protect the victims and allowed Waln to continue teaching despite the allegations against him. In fact, one victim reported the abuse to the school, but Waln was allowed to return to teaching the following year.

Scott Waln was convicted of sexual abuse in 2022 and sentenced to 30 years to life in prison. The Norwalk-La Mirada School District has issued a statement that the matter is currently in litigation.

The victims and their families are seeking justice and compensation for the emotional and psychological trauma they have suffered. The lawsuit hopes to hold the school district accountable for its failure to protect its students from predators like Scott Waln.
