Two major weather systems set to reduce precipitation across the Philippines
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a weather advisory, warning that a Low Pressure Area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon or "habagat" will bring rains to most areas of the country in the next 24 hours.
The LPA, currently located 570 km. east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes or 695 km. east of Daet, Camarines Norte, has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. No new information about its development was provided.
Moderate winds are forecast across Mindanao and the western sections of the Visayas and Luzon. These areas could also experience moderate to heavy rains, which may result in flash floods or landslides. The western sections of the Visayas and Luzon will also experience moderate seas.
Scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected across the Bicol Region, Aurora, Bulacan, Quezon, Rizal, Metro Manila, the Visayas, Mimaropa, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of Calabarzon. Localized thunderstorms are also expected in various areas due to the "habagat".
Regions in the northern part of Luzon, particularly east of extreme northern Luzon and areas around Camarines Norte, could be affected by tremors and precipitation in the next 24 hours following the passage of the LPA or developing Tropical Depression Kiko. This could lead to heavy rainfall and localized flooding, especially under current La Niña conditions which increase rainfall likelihood.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. No new information about the areas expected to experience scattered rains and thunderstorms, moderate to heavy rains, or flash floods or landslides in specific areas was provided.
In conclusion, the LPA and the "habagat" are expected to bring rains across the Philippines in the next 24 hours. Residents in affected areas are advised to monitor the weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
