U.S. city Washington D.C. ranks third with the highest number of pest invasions, once more

In a recent study by Thumbtack, the rankings of the most bug-infested cities in the United States have remained the same. Austin, Texas, and Dallas, Texas, continue to hold the first and second spots, respectively.

The study, which analysed data from requests for pest control services, pest inspection, bed bug extermination, and outdoor pesticide application from August 2024 to July 2025, also revealed that Washington, D.C., is the third most bug-infested city in the country. Atlanta, Houston, Baltimore, Charlotte, San Francisco, West Palm Beach, and Miami follow Washington, D.C., in the list.

Gainesville, Florida, ranks first among termite-infested cities in the US, according to the study. This is the fourth consecutive year that Washington, D.C., has been among the top bug-infested cities.

Interestingly, overall requests related to bugs are down 1% year-over-year in Washington, D.C., but it is not clear if this change is reflected in the requests for the other cities on the list. The study did not specify any changes in the top bug-infested cities from the previous year, nor did it provide information on any changes in the ranking of the cities after Washington, D.C.

It's worth noting that the rankings were determined by the relative frequency of these requests, adjusted for the population of state and metropolitan areas. The study did not mention any new trends or factors contributing to the bug infestations in the analyzed cities.

No new cities were added to the list of top bug-infested cities in the study, and Austin and Dallas still hold the first and second spots, respectively, in the ranking of bug-infested cities.

In conclusion, while the rankings of the top bug-infested cities in the US have remained the same, it is important for homeowners in these cities to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent pest infestations.
