U.S.-Iran Issues Under Trump's Presidency Unfixable, Says Iranian Leader

In the wake of the June war, Iran finds itself grappling with the aftermath of severe damage or destruction to important atomic and military facilities, inflicted by Israeli forces. Despite these setbacks, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, and the Iranian government maintain that they have emerged victorious from the conflict.

Khamenei's public appearances have been rare since Israel's attacks on strategic targets in Iran, fuelling speculation that he may be hiding out of fear of an assassination attempt. This uncertainty, coupled with his firm stance against resuming nuclear power negotiations with the USA under President Donald Trump, has raised concerns about the future of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Trump has been accused by Khamenei of inciting Israel and supporting its attacks on Iran, with the intention of forcing a political change. This allegation, however, has not deterred President Massoud Peschkani and his government from considering the possibility of continuing talks with the USA.

The Iranian government is currently grappling with internal challenges as well. Energy and water shortages could lead to unrest within the country, adding to the existing pressure on Khamenei and his administration.

Observers suggest that Khamenei is not fundamentally against negotiations, but he is unwilling to do so under Trump's conditions. This stance has been reinforced by Khamenei's assertion that the problems with Trump are insurmountable, and the issue is about obedience and surrender.

Hardliners in Iran's parliament are strictly against resuming nuclear talks with the USA, further complicating the situation. If nuclear talks are not resumed, Iran could face additional sanctions, which could worsen its already dire economic situation.

The future of Iran's nuclear programme and its relationship with the USA remains uncertain, with Khamenei's current stance on resuming nuclear talks with the US remaining unclear. As the situation continues to evolve, the world watches on with bated breath, bracing for the potential of another military strike by Israel.
