In the midst of ongoing global conflicts, several significant alliances and partnerships have emerged, shaping the geopolitical landscape.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has provided details about the attacks on Ukraine by Russia, emphasizing the need for a global response due to the lack of sufficient pressure on Russia's war economy. As for Russia, Yuri Ushakov, Putin's foreign affairs adviser, stated that no one had been plotting anything or weaving any conspiracies.

Meanwhile, China and Russia established a "no-limits" partnership in 2022, indicating deep cooperation across security, trade, and geopolitics. However, it is essential to note that this is not a formal military alliance, according to the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). The same source also states that China and North Korea have a mutual-defense treaty dating back to 1961.

Interestingly, the partnership between Russia and North Korea, as of June 2024, includes a mutual-defense clause, according to the Foreign Policy Research Institute. Reports suggest that North Korea has sent around 15,000 troops to Russia since last year to help fuel Putin's three-year invasion of Ukraine.

The complex dynamics between North Korea, China, and Russia were further highlighted when the leaders of these three nations attended China's military parade commemorating the end of World War II and victory over Japan. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin, in particular, emphasised their mutual support, with Kim stressing that he would consider anything he could do for Russia and its people as a fraternal duty and an obligation.

In a different context, former US President Donald Trump accused Chinese President Xi Jinping of "conspiring against" the United States on Truth Social. Trump also expressed hope that the Americans who died in China's quest for victory and glory would be rightfully honoured and remembered for their bravery and sacrifice.
