UAVs were brought down across the Kuban, Black, and Azov seas on the night of September 1st.
In a series of incidents over the past 24 hours, multiple drones have been shot down over various regions in Russia. The events unfolded between 21:00 on August 31 and midnight on September 1, with the majority of incidents occurring over the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov, and the Kuban region.
The first reported incident took place over the Krasnodar Krai, where one drone was brought down. Residents in several regions of Kuban received warnings of drone danger around 22:20 on August 31. Fragments of a shot-down drone were later found in the village of Ilyskoye in the North District on September 1. The specific time of the drone incident in Kropotkin is not specified, but debris from a Ukrainian drone also fell in the industrial zone of Kropotkin in the Caucasus District.
The drone attack in Ilyskoye resulted in broken windows in two houses, damage to a fence in one courtyard, and a grass fire at a third location. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported in any of the incidents. A fire caused by the debris at an electrical substation in Kropotkin covered an area of 80 sq. m.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces attempted to attack targets within Russia using aircraft-type drones on Monday. Twelve drones were shot down over Belgorod Oblast, four over Saratov Oblast, three over Orenburg Oblast, and three over Tatarstan. However, no further information is provided about these incidents.
In a significant escalation, another 21 drones were shot down over the Black Sea during the same timeframe. From midnight to 5:00 AM, a total of 50 Ukrainian drones were shot down and intercepted by Russia's air defense systems.
The "Drone danger" alert was lifted on September 1 at 4:41. It is unclear if the incidents occurred after the alert was lifted or if they contributed to the decision to issue the alert in the first place.
The Ukrainian commanders responsible for these attacks on Russian targets using aerial drones include Oleksandr Syrskyi, the top Ukrainian military commander, and Robert Brovdi, appointed commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces on June 3, 2025.
These developments underscore the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia and the potential for further escalation in the region.
