On Saturday evening, a 49-year-old man found himself in hot water after a police patrol in Euskirchen suspected him of driving under the influence. The incident occurred at the intersection with Frauenberger Straße, where the man was riding an e-scooter along Paul-Ehrlich-Straße towards Monschauer Straße.

According to reports, the man was traveling with his 6-year-old son on the e-scooter. The police noticed the man holding a mobile phone to his ear and the child holding onto the handlebar. It was later discovered that the man did not have a driver's license, and he explained that he was using the e-scooter because of this.

A breathalyzer test at the scene revealed a blood alcohol content of 1.22% for the man, leading to the filing of a report for driving under the influence. A blood sample was taken from the man for further analysis. The identity of the police officer who reported the traffic offense is not publicly disclosed.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible behaviour on the roads, regardless of the mode of transport. It is essential to prioritise the safety of all road users, especially children. The police urge all drivers to always ensure they are fit to drive and to comply with traffic regulations.
