Undercover Garage Burglary in Freiburg: E-bike taken, suspects apprehended
In a recent development, a 32-year-old man of Algerian nationality has been detained by the authorities in connection with the theft of an e-bike in Freiburg-Haslach.
The incident took place on Tuesday, 02.09.2025, when an e-bike was stolen from an underground garage in Freiburg-Haslach. A witness reported seeing a man breaking the locks of two e-bikes around 16:30.
The suspect managed to flee the scene with one of the e-bikes, but was later provisionally arrested in Freiburg that same evening.
The Public Prosecutor's Office in Freiburg requested the suspect's detention, which was subsequently ordered by the examining magistrate. The suspect has a previous history of similar offenses, having come to police attention on multiple occasions.
The stolen e-bike was found near the community accommodation where the suspect was staying, and the suspect's own e-bike was also recovered.
