Uninvolved driver apprehended outside disco dance

In the wee hours of Sunday, the 29th of June, an incident unfolded outside a nightclub on Rolshover Street in Cologne-Poll that led to the arrest of an 18-year-old and the hospitalisation of several individuals.

The incident seems to have stemmed from an argument between the 18-year-old and a 23-year-old, whose identity remains undisclosed. The altercation escalated when the 23-year-old allegedly threw a glass bottle at the 18-year-old, shattering the rear window of his Opel Corsa around 5 am.

The 18-year-old, following the collision, lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Club security staff had reportedly sprayed irritant gas at the 18-year-old through the open car window before the collision.

In addition to the 18-year-old, a 20-year-old woman and two men aged 32 and 40 were also injured and taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries varied.

The police ordered a doctor to take a blood sample from the 18-year-old to test for alcohol and drug consumption. Both the 18-year-old and the 23-year-old were taken into custody by the authorities.

The Opel Corsa involved in the incident was impounded by the police, and the traffic accident investigation team was called to secure the scene.

Media inquiries can be directed to the Police Headquarters Cologne Press Office.

The details of the investigation are still unfolding, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
