The German Football Association (DFB) has announced the second round draw for the DFB-Pokal, the prestigious German cup competition. Several intriguing matches have been scheduled, with some teams aiming to make a deep run in the tournament.

One of the most anticipated encounters will be between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund. This clash, set to take place in the second round, promises to be a thrilling encounter, as both teams boast a rich history and a strong squad.

VfB Stuttgart, the successor to the team that beat Arminia Bielefeld 4:2 over three months ago, will also be in action. They will be crowned in the DFB-Pokal final, scheduled for 23 May 2026 at the Olympiastadion.

Another noteworthy match will see Hertha BSC hosting SV Elversberg. The Berlin-based club will be eager to advance in the competition and potentially challenge for the trophy.

The rematch between 1. FC Union Berlin and Arminia Bielefeld will also take place in the second round. Last season, Union lost to Arminia in the second round of the DFB-Pokal. This time around, Union is aiming to turn the tables and reach the final of the DFB-Pokal this season, 25 years after their last appearance. The exact date for this highly anticipated rematch will be announced by the DFB in the coming days.

The match between 1. FC Union Berlin and Arminia Bielefeld will take place at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in Dortmund. Union celebrated a 5:0 victory over FC Gütersloh in their DFB-Pokal first round match, with goals from Robert Skov, Leopold Querfeld, Danilho Doekhi, Andrej Ilic, and Wooyeong Jeong.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich will face a tough task against 1. FC Köln in the second round of the DFB-Pokal. The Bavarian giants will be aiming to regain their dominance in the competition, having won the DFB-Pokal a record 19 times.

In the first round of the DFB-Pokal, FC Gütersloh secured a stunning 5:0 victory over Urs Fischer's 1. FC Union Berlin. Despite this setback, Urs Fischer, the ex-Union coach, remains optimistic, stating, "I always say: Only hoping is hopeless."

As the DFB-Pokal progresses, fans can look forward to more exciting matches and potential upsets. The competition promises to be a thrilling ride, with several teams aiming to lift the trophy come May 2026.
