Unlawful Car Race Causes Collision on Street Wall

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a traffic accident occurred on Dortmund Ostwall near Kaiserstraße. According to the Dortmund police, the accident was caused by an illegal street race involving two young men, aged 22 from Dortmund and 28 from Sohren.

The police's swift response at the scene identified the second participant in the race, who fled the scene. The collision occurred around 00:01 AM and fortunately, no one was injured.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident. The Dortmund police have seized the vehicles, mobile phones, and driver's licenses of both reckless drivers.

The accident occurred due to the suspected high speed of the approaching vehicles. One of the young men lost control of his vehicle during the race, while the other's vehicle spun off the road and came to a stop after several meters.

The damage to property was estimated to be in the five-figure range.
