Unlawful Hiring and Attempted Escape during Construction Site Inspection in Potsdam
In a shocking turn of events, a waste disposal company based in Weiden, Germany, is under investigation for a series of alleged violations. The company, whose operational site is located in the district of Schwandorf, has been accused of illegal employment of foreigners, suspected non-payment of social security contributions, and violations of reporting obligations.
Last Monday, the Financial Control Black Work unit of the Main Customs Office Potsdam conducted a construction site inspection in the state capital. The investigation revealed a host of illegal activities, including the discovery of illegal employment, attempted escapes, forged identification documents, violations of registration requirements, and suspicion of withholding and misappropriation of wages.
Upon entering the construction site, officers apprehended several fleeing individuals. Out of the 25 people inspected, a staggering 15 were found to be illegally employed. Two of these individuals were ordered for immediate deportation, with one of them having a previous conviction for practicing an occupation without the required residence permit. Four of the illegally employed individuals presented forged identification documents.
The managing director of the waste disposal company has been arrested on an arrest warrant issued by the court in Weiden on August 21, 2025.
