Unlawful intrusion at the IGA construction site in Lünen - City issues cautionary announcement
The city of Lünen has issued an urgent appeal to its citizens, as well as to visitors, to avoid entering the cordoned-off area of the Victoria Square construction site. The construction, which is currently underway, is a significant part of the city's preparations for the International Garden Exhibition (IGA) 2027, scheduled for September 2025.
The Victoria Square construction site remains strictly off-limits to the public. Any unauthorized entry poses a significant danger and is punishable by law. Repeated instances of unauthorized entries have been reported, and an incident involving the removal of a construction fence element and unauthorized access has been recorded in the "Am Wüstenknapp" area.
In response to these incidents, the city has taken additional measures to ensure the security of the construction site. The security service has been instructed to increase patrols in the area, and any violations of the prohibition to enter will be prosecuted.
The city has also filed a criminal complaint regarding the unauthorized entry into the Victoria Square construction site. However, the name of the person or organization responsible for these illegal entries has not been publicly disclosed.
The International Garden Exhibition (IGA) 2027 is a future event that promises to be a significant attraction, with Victoria Square serving as its location. The city encourages everyone to respect the construction site and wait for the grand unveiling of the transformed Victoria Square in September 2025.
In the meantime, the city reminds all citizens and visitors to stay away from the construction site and to respect the prohibition on entering the area. The safety and security of everyone involved in the construction is of utmost importance. Let's work together to ensure a successful International Garden Exhibition (IGA) 2027.
