Unlawful substance-induced vehicle operation

On the afternoon of February 20, a traffic accident with property damage occurred in the parking lot of a supermarket on WesterwaldstraรŸe, Uckerath, Rhein-Sieg district. The incident involved two cars, one of which was attempting to park.

Upon arrival, the police spoke to a 24-year-old woman from Leverkusen and a 37-year-old man from Hennef. The woman reported finding the man's behaviour strange and that he smelled of marijuana.

Investigations revealed that the 37-year-old man is under suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. The police found indications that the man might have consumed drugs, and a subsequent drug test reacted positively for several substances.

As a result, the man's driver's license was confiscated, and he was prohibited from driving. The police control center was informed about the accident and subsequent investigation.

In an unrelated incident, the same 37-year-old man was stopped by the police at a control point in Bad Boll due to suspicion of drug influence while driving. He was one of several drivers from this control where 12 were suspected of drug impairment.

Fortunately, no visible damage was found on either vehicle involved in the Uckerath accident. However, it is a reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs, a risk that not only endangers the driver but also other road users.

The police urge all drivers to always be responsible and cautious behind the wheel, and to never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If you suspect someone is driving under the influence, please report it to the authorities immediately.
