- Unpredictable weather for the next few days: storms, heavy rain, and hail are on the horizon
The German Weather Service has issued a weather alert for parts of Germany on Thursday, September 4, 2025. The forecast indicates isolated, strong thunderstorms with heavy rain, gusty winds, and hail in various regions.
In the south of Germany, thunderstorms are expected to be particularly prevalent, with Stuttgart experiencing these conditions throughout the day. The city will start with sun in the morning, followed by clouds, heavy showers, and thunderstorms, with temperatures reaching up to 28°C initially and then dropping to 18–22°C.
Towards the east, from Saarland to Rostock, thunderstorms are mainly expected, but Stuttgart will also experience some of these conditions. Elsewhere, scattered showers across Germany, especially from the southwest to the middle, may become severe and turn into thunderstorms, with a risk of heavy rain in some areas.
A map provided by the German Weather Service shows the predicted total rainfall for the day, indicating higher amounts in the south and east. Another map displays the predicted minimum temperatures for today, with temperatures expected to drop to 18 to 9 degrees Celsius.
The weather forecast does not specify any specific temperature records for today, but the highest temperature in Germany on Thursday will be 29 degrees Celsius in the Lusatia. Towards the end of the night on Thursday, there will be increasing cloud cover in the southwest and rain moving in at the Three-Country Corner. Elsewhere overnight into Friday, it will be partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows of 17 to 8 degrees Celsius are expected.
Stormy gusts from the southwest will be present at the North Sea. Gentle to moderate winds from the east will be present in the southeast, otherwise moderate to strong gusts from the southwest will prevail.

Overnight into Friday, there will be heavy, thunderstorms moving from the southwest and south through the eastern middle to the east, with a risk of heavy rain. The northwest of Germany will have initial showers and isolated thunderstorms, gradually easing off, while the south and east will remain partly cloudy and dry.
It is advisable for residents in affected areas to stay informed and take necessary precautions as the weather conditions may cause disruptions.
