Unveiled: Automobiles, lifestyle, and fashion at the globe's most stylish ice racing circuit
In the heart of the Austrian Alps this month, the FAT International Ice Race played host to an exciting new addition β the Arctic Circle collection by Polestar.
The collection, a four-wheeled nod to Polestar's racing DNA, saw its vehicles lifted and adorned with specialized ice racing tyres, donning distinctive white and yellow coats. One of these vehicles was driven by Shana Claessens, a Belgian racing driver, who reflected on the parallels between driving a Polestar and her racing experiences.
Polestar brought its unique take on racing culture to the paddock at the event. The centerpiece of their presence was the Electric Garage, an elevated Polestar 5, a four-door Grand Tourer set to become Polestar's most powerful car. The Electric Garage, resembling an aircraft hangar, served as a hub for electric mobility experiences. It featured high-tech racing simulators, bespoke racing helmet painting, and a futuristic design.
Dragan Pavlovic, Polestar Architect, mentioned that creating a venue in the Austrian Alps was a unique and challenging opportunity. Dan Persson, Polestar's Strategic Creative Director, believed the Electric Garage was about creating a movement and crafting memorable experiences.
The Arctic Circle collection was unveiled at the FAT International Ice Race, with Thed Bjork, one of Sweden's greatest ever racing drivers, also in attendance. Bjork, who has a history with Polestar having driven for Cyan Racing before it became Polestar, even took swimming superstar Sarah SjoΜstroΜm for a hot lap at the event.
Meanwhile, Sergio Marques found a new home for his Polestar in various locations, including Jokkmokk, reindeer and Northern Lights territory. The Polestar 5, the star of the show, will be available to customers later this year.
As the dust settles on the FAT International Ice Race, Polestar's Electric Garage continues to stand as a testament to their commitment to electrifying the racing world. With the Mille Miglia, a race and fashion parade, scheduled for 2025, it seems Polestar is only just getting started.
