Unveiled Prematurely: Philips Hue Smart Home Consumer Electronics Surface on Amazon Prior to Official Release
In the world of smart lighting, Philips Hue continues to push boundaries with its latest innovation – MotionAware technology. This new feature, set to revolutionise Philips Hue smart bulbs, could potentially increase their functionality and offer security alerts.
MotionAware uses ZigBee support in smart bulbs for motion detection, eliminating the need for separate bridge connectors, a common requirement among other smart lighting brands. This means that the technology could offer automatic motion-based lighting control without the need for additional sensors.
The announcement of MotionAware comes as part of a larger unveiling of new Philips Hue products. An early release on Amazon's UK site has revealed the new Philips Hue Doorbell, which features two-way audio, package detection, and integration with Philips Hue smart lights.
Additionally, Philips Hue is launching a new affordable line called Essential. The line includes essential bulbs and lights, promising to make smart home technology more accessible.
The new Philips Hue Bridge, needed to connect many Hue lighting products to Wi-Fi, is also being released. However, details about the new Bridge Pro, which Philips Hue announced and leaked, are yet to be disclosed.
Philips Lighting/Signify did not respond to a request for comment regarding MotionAware technology.
The new Philips Hue products, including the Doorbell, the new Philips Hue Bridge, and the new Philips Hue Essential lamps, are scheduled for a sales launch in Germany in September 2025.
This week, IFA and CEDIA, expos for smart home tech, are taking place. New smart-home tech announcements will be covered during these events, so keep an eye out for more updates from Philips Hue and other leading smart home brands.
