Unveiling of the New 911 Slantnose Model: Porsche or Manthey Dispute?
New Porsche Prototype Spotted at Nürburgring Pays Homage to 1980's 911 Turbo Slantnose
A new Porsche prototype has been spotted undergoing testing near the Nürburgring, and it seems the iconic car manufacturer is working on a model that pays homage to the 1980's 911 Turbo Slantnose. The design of the new model appears to be a mashup of a modern-day slantnose and the Manthey kit for the 911 GT2 RS.
The car features a unique front end with slimmer headlights and squared off intakes, reminiscent of the Manthey kit for the previous-generation 911 GT2 RS. The hood boasts NACA ducts, canards, and a protruding front lip, while the taillights recall those used on the 991. The model also incorporates cues from the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS.
It is unclear if the new model is a new Manthey variant or a special edition Porsche. However, the model's close resemblance to the Manthey kit suggests it might be a new Manthey variant rather than a special edition Porsche. The company behind the design of the prototype is likely Manthey, given the similarity.
The new model, if it is a Manthey variant, will come equipped with lightweight center locking wheels, a high-performance braking system with yellow calipers, rear aero discs, a massive rear wing, a tall spoiler, a sports exhaust system, and a discreet diffuser. Pricing and performance specifications for the new model are yet to be announced.
Porsche has filed trademark applications for the Flachbau and Flachbau RS monikers, which mean slantnose in German. It is possible that the new model could be called the Flachbau.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new development in the world of Porsche.
