Northern Offshore Services Launches Eco-Friendly E-Class CTV Series

Northern Offshore Services (N-O-S) is making waves in the offshore wind sector with the launch of their E-class crew transfer vessel (CTV) series. The M/V Energizer, the first vessel in this new series, is an in-house design by N-O-S and is set to be delivered at the end of 2020.

The M/V Energizer, with a length of 34m, will be the largest vessel in Northern Offshore Services' fleet. This green power concept uses batteries recharged from shore and wind farms, providing renewable energy directly from production to consumer.

The propulsion system in the E-class vessels also increases bollard push during docking, while the new propulsion system reduces fuel consumption during transit. The system features four modes, including an ECO-mode for low-speed operation supported by batteries.

The E-class crew transfer vessel series is part of Northern Offshore Services' efforts towards a fully electrified CTV fleet. David Kristensson, the Group CEO of N-O-S, believes that electrification is a central part of the future of safe and environmentally friendly CTVs.

The batteries in the E-class crew transfer vessel series provide the necessary power for the vessels to operate solely on batteries, as stated by N-O-S. The new propulsion system, coupled with hybrid technology, aims to provide safer and more environmentally friendly operations.

NOS continues to improve and develop their services to further electrify their CTV fleet. The high-efficiency propulsion resulting from lower propeller speed and a larger diameter in the E-class vessels contributes to their role in a greener future for CTVs.

David Kristensson commented on the E-Class CTV series with hybrid technology as part of their fleet expansion and innovation strategy in the offshore wind sector. The M/V Energizer, with its innovative design and green power concept, is a testament to N-O-S's commitment to a sustainable future.
