BMW Unveils the 2024 1 Series: A Refreshed Compact Luxury Car
BMW has revealed the fourth generation of its compact luxury car, the 2024 BMW 1 Series. Despite appearing to be a major facelift, this model marks a significant evolution in the series.
The 2024 BMW 1 Series retains its rear-wheel drive, a feature that some BMW fans may find disappointing. However, the car has grown in size, now measuring 4361 mm in length, 1800 mm in width, and 1469 mm in height. This growth is evident in the redesigned body, which resembles the BMW 4 Series. The new LED headlights and revised kidneys further accentuate the car's sleek and modern appearance.
All 1 Series models will come equipped with a sports steering wheel as standard. Inside, the car features a fully digital cockpit as standard, complete with a 10.25-inch information display and a 10.7-inch control display. Surprisingly, the interior uses leather-like imitations instead of leather.
When it comes to performance, the new BMW M135 for 2024 takes a slightly different approach. It comes with 300 PS (221 kW) and 400 Nm, making it less powerful than its predecessor. However, this change aims to provide better balance for the sportier design, which includes side skirts, a spoiler, a large diffuser, and four thick tailpipes.
The main competitors for the 2024 BMW 1 Series include premium compact cars from brands such as Audi (A3), Mercedes-Benz (A-Class), and Volkswagen (Golf), as well as other similar models in the compact luxury segment. These models compete in terms of performance, features, and price within the same class.
The 120 and 120d models offer 300 to 1135 liters of trunk space due to the hybrid drive, while other variants offer 380 to 1200 liters.
The BMW M135 xDrive, with its sportier design, offers an exciting alternative for those seeking a more dynamic driving experience in the compact luxury segment. The 2024 BMW 1 Series, with its evolutionary design and features, continues to be a strong contender in this competitive market.
