Fire in Hannoversche Straße Contained by Quick Action of Residents and Fire Department

A hedge fire in Hannoversche Straße was successfully contained last night, thanks to the quick action of alert residents and the Detmold Fire Department.

The incident occurred at around 20:50, with the fire department, along with the Mitte fire crew, rushing to the scene. Initial reports suggested the fire was threatening to spread to an adjacent building, but the swift response from the residents, who had already used water to significantly contain the flames, and the fire department ensured that the fire did not spread.

Upon arrival, the fire department used a thermal imaging camera to assess the situation. The camera was also used to check the affected hedge and nearby trash cans, as an overheated paper bin was further cooled as a precaution. The operation took about 30 minutes to complete, and no injuries were reported during the fire operation.

Christopher Rieks, the Deputy Head of Press and Public Relations for the Detmold Fire Department, praised the residents' quick thinking.
