In the vibrant city of Gütersloh, four playgrounds have been redesigned as part of a playground offensive, transforming these spaces into modern, inclusive, and safe havens for children. The playgrounds at Münstermannsweg, Kuckucksweg, Anna-Voß-Straße, and Birkhuhnweg have all received an upgrade, providing a diverse range of play opportunities for children aged three to twelve.

Let's start with Münstermannsweg, where a brand-new playground was built from April to May 2025. The central play area features a climbing path, a standing seesaw, a balance beam, and speaking tubes, making it a hub of activity and fun. The play area also includes a small area with houses, a baking table, and sensory play panels in the sand play area. New shrubs are planned to be added in the fall to enhance natural play. Additionally, seating areas and a picnic group are available for parents and accompanying persons, making Münstermannsweg a perfect spot for family outings.

Moving on to Anna-Voß-Straße, the playground has undergone smaller measures such as the exchange of play equipment and changes to improve accessibility. A newly planted fence installation is intended to prevent dogs from entering, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for children.

At Kuckucksweg, the renovated playground in the town center of Friedrichsdorf opened at the end of 2024. Highlights include a seven-meter-high "DNA-Tower", a zip line, a multi-trampoline, and an inclusive sand play area with wheelchair access. Many materials for the playground, such as paving stones and granite, were sourced from the demolition measures for the expansion of the municipal primary schools. New tree and shrub plantings have been added to structure the entire playground, creating a beautiful and inviting space.

Lastly, Birkhuhnweg has undergone a significant redesign, featuring a wheelchair-accessible playhouse, a terrain vehicle with a gas station, and other elements for inclusive play.

Katharina Krause, responsible for planning and rebuilding playgrounds in the Green Spaces department, is proud of the diverse, safe, and modern play spaces created for children. The redesigned playgrounds offer new meeting places for families and neighborhoods, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.

As the municipal authorities or specific city departments in charge of urban development and public spaces take responsibility for planning and constructing playgrounds, the future of play in Gütersloh looks bright and filled with endless possibilities for fun and learning.
