Utility Attorney Appointed as GCI's Chief Administrative Officer
Moira Smith, a distinguished legal professional with extensive experience in litigation, corporate law, and regulatory matters, has been appointed as the Senior Vice President of Law and Chief Administrative Officer at GCI.
Smith's impressive career began at the Anchorage-based law firm Ashburn & Mason, where she honed her legal skills. She later joined ENSTAR Natural Gas, where she played a pivotal role in navigating complex legal transactions and initiatives within the energy sector.
Smith's educational background is equally impressive. She completed her undergraduate studies at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service and earned her JD from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.
Throughout her career, Smith has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service. She has served on the boards of several organisations, including the Alaska Humanities Forum, the American Lung Association, Perseverance Theatre, and Standing Together Against Rape. Smith has also volunteered with the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Group and the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
In recognition of her achievements, Smith was inducted into the Anchorage ATHENA Society in 2022 and honored as a YWCA Woman of Achievement in 2020. She has also served as a mentor for the Women's Power League of Alaska and the Berkeley Center for Law and Business.
In her new role at GCI, Smith will direct the company's state and federal external affairs strategy. She will also lead GCI's Human Resources department and oversee its legal and compliance functions.

Smith, a graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School, is looking forward to her new role at GCI. "I am excited to join GCI and contribute to its mission of connecting Alaska," said Smith.
