Traffic Accident on Burggrafenstraße, Essen's Südostviertel

On April 30, 2025, at 18:43, a traffic accident took place on Burggrafenstraße in Essen's South-East Quarter. The incident involved a vintage pickup truck that veered off the road, collided with a traffic sign post, and caught fire.

Fortunately, no other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in the accident. The driver of the classic car managed to exit the vehicle with minor injuries before it started burning. An ambulance crew, passing by, promptly provided medical assistance to the driver. However, the current health status or hospital location of the driver is not specified.

Upon receiving multiple emergency calls about the incident, Essen Fire Department and Police responded swiftly. Firefighters in protective gear launched an attack on the fire to prevent it from spreading to the surrounding vegetation. Foam was used to ensure the fire was extinguished, and the good news is that the fire has been put out, and the surrounding vegetation was not affected.

City employees are currently absorbing spilled fuel from the accident site, while the damaged traffic sign is being dismantled. The vehicle, unfortunately, was completely destroyed by the fire.

The Essen Police have initiated an investigation into the cause of the traffic accident. For further inquiries, contact Christian Schmücker of the Essen Fire Department at 0201-12370102, fax 0201/228233, email [email protected], or visit http://www.essen.de/feuerwehr.
