In August 2021, used car prices in Germany saw a slight decrease, according to the Auto1 Group Price Index. The index, which stands as a key indicator for developments on the European used car market, dipped by 0.7% compared to the previous month, reaching a value of 140.9 points.

The Auto1 Group Price Index is calculated based on millions of vehicle transactions from the company's dealer network, providing valuable insights into the market. However, the October data for the index is not yet available.

Meanwhile, GW-TRENDS Used Cars reported stable transaction prices in October, contrasting with the rising trend seen in April. GW-TRENDS did not provide any data on the transaction prices for April, but they did report a rise in prices for that month.

Comparing August 2021 to August 2024, used car prices in Germany have increased by 2.6%. This positive trend, when combined with the year-to-date figures, suggests a generally favourable market for used car sellers in Germany.

It's worth noting that the Auto1 Group Price Index for July stood at 141.9 points, indicating a slight increase from August's figures. However, the index for April remains unavailable.

The stability of transaction prices in October, as reported by GW-TRENDS Used Cars, provides a promising sign for the used car market in Germany, especially considering the rise in prices seen earlier in the year.

The absence of the Auto1 Group Price Index for October and April leaves a gap in the data, but the overall trend suggests a positive outlook for the used car market in Germany.
