Nestled outside Rome's city centre, Villa Medici is renowned for its rich artistic programs, and now, it's home to an exciting new photography exhibition: 'Chromotherapia'. This colourful spectacle, on display until 9th June 2025, marks a century of experimentation with colour photography, as it was the Lumière brothers who first created the first industrial colour photograph in 1907.

'Chromotherapia' dives into a world saturated with colour, often overlooked and not taken very seriously. The photographers involved have brought a fun and free-spirited nature to their work, offering a fresh chromatic vision of the world. The exhibition features bright, bold colours from neon yellows to electric blues, deep oranges, and vibrant reds.

The showcase is divided into seven chapters, each displaying different genres. 'Foodorama' showcases food images, while 'Raining Cats and Dogs' features quirky animals. The array of imagery toys with pop art, surrealism, bling, kitsch, and the baroque, offering a diverse view. Yet, all images share a common denominator: the desire to see life and emotions differently through colour.

Seven artists are featured in the exhibition, including Benedetta Carpi, Alistar Dalee, Miriam Heß, Femka, Margherita Moscardini, Manaka Oryoji, and Joseph Pierre. The showcase is also accompanied by a photographic book titled 'Chromotherapia, Feel-Good Color Photography', edited by Damiani Books and Villa Medici.

The exhibition doesn't shy away from playful and political imagery. It continues to explore the photographic medium in all its potential, offering a unique and engaging experience for visitors.
