Vietnam and Italy hold promising prospects for enhanced economic relations, suggests Deputy Foreign Minister

In a meeting held in Hanoi on September 3, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang met with Deputy Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy Valentino Valentini. The discussions focused on strengthening the Vietnam-Italy Strategic Partnership, particularly in areas that match the strengths of both nations.

Valentini, who is also the mission director for the upcoming Earth observation satellite project focused on climate monitoring, congratulated Vietnam on the successful celebration of its 80th National Day. Hang, in return, thanked the Italian Deputy Minister for his congratulations.

The two officials highly value the close coordination between the countries' foreign ministries and emphasized the potential for stronger cooperation, particularly in the economy. Hang suggested expanding investment in sectors including agro-processing, food, fashion, high technology, energy, and seaport construction.

Valentini underscored the longstanding affection that many generations of Italians have held for Vietnam since its struggle for national defense. He emphasized the importance of digital technology, green energy, artificial intelligence, and related fields in the face of global changes.

Italian businesses are increasingly interested in the Vietnamese market and are ready to share their experience in tackling challenges related to energy balance, digital technology, and sustainable development. The energy transition seminar and the business forum are examples of activities Italian businesses are ready to engage in during Valentini's visit.

Hang requested Italy to increase imports of Vietnamese goods such as aquatic products, textiles, garments, and wooden furniture. Valentini proposed co-hosting similar events in Italy in the near future.

Both parties agreed to work more closely to advance the Vietnam-Italy Strategic Partnership in the coming time, aiming at the development of both nations and the benefit of their peoples. The Italy Business Forum is expected to open new opportunities for enterprises of both countries, particularly in green energy, digital transformation, and high technology. Hang also asked Italy to help Vietnam's enterprises improve competitiveness.

Valentini's visit to Vietnam is co-chairing the Italy Business Forum, which is aimed at fostering stronger ties between the two countries and promoting mutual growth and development. The partnership between Vietnam and Italy continues to grow, with both nations looking towards a bright future of cooperation.
