Vietnam and ICAPP Affirm Strong Partnership for Regional Development

In a significant development, the leaders of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) have expressed their confidence in Vietnam's continued growth and strength in its new era of development. This affirmation came during a high-level meeting between Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Manh Cuong, and a delegation from ICAPP, led by Chairman Chung Eui-yong and Co-Chairman Mushahid Hussain Sayed, on August 31.

The ICAPP delegation is currently in Vietnam for a working visit, attending a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2). During their discussions, both sides agreed to further promote ICAPP's unique value and pivotal role as a bridge for dialogue and consensus among political forces.

Vietnam's foreign policy, consistent with independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, aligns well with ICAPP's objectives. The Vietnamese government also emphasizes diversification and multilateralisation of relations, and building a comprehensive, modern diplomacy based on three pillars: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Manh Cuong, commended ICAPP's achievements, noting it as the world's largest multilateral political party forum. He also highlighted ICAPP's significant contribution to enhancing understanding among political parties in the region, and its effective role as a bridge in facilitating cooperation among governments and parliaments across Asia.

The ICAPP leaders spoke highly of Vietnam's robust and comprehensive achievements in the fields of economy, culture, and society. They expressed their deep appreciation for Vietnam's future orientations, particularly its "four pillars" and major development goals. The leaders also praised the Communist Party of Vietnam's (CPV) contributions as a member of the ICAPP Standing Committee over the past two decades.

Both sides agreed that ICAPP should further promote dialogue, strengthen trust, and contribute to building an environment of peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. The CPV affirmed its role as an active and responsible member of the ICAPP Standing Committee, and expressed its wish to continue close cooperation with the ICAPP leadership.

The ICAPP leaders also expressed their interest in expanding partnerships with multilateral political organizations in other regions. They affirmed their wish to continue close cooperation with the CPV in realizing ICAPP's development vision.

ICAPP, one of the priority multilateral political forums in the CPV's external relations, has played a crucial role in fostering peace, security, and development in Asia, according to the ICAPP leaders. The CPV will continue to strengthen close cooperation with the ICAPP leadership, furthering the shared goal of a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Asia.
