Violent encounter ends lives of 11 individuals in the Sierra de Chiapas, armed conflict alleged

Last Thursday, a violent confrontation between organized crime groups erupted in the Sierra region of Chiapas, Mexico. The conflict resulted in the destruction of three "monster" vehicles and fires in abandoned houses across several communities.

The violence claimed the lives of 18 individuals, including a student from Chiapas High School College, in the municipality of Chicomuselo. The identity of the student killed in the conflict remains undisclosed, along with the school he attended.

The incident has caused significant disruption in the region. The electricity service in Chicomuselo was interrupted for several hours due to the violence. Residents of the area reported that the victims did not belong to any of the criminal groups.

NGOs have denounced "violence and terror" on the Chiapas border, pleading with organized crime to halt the violence in the region. Priests from Chiapas and Guatemala have joined the call, urging for peace and an end to the bloodshed.

The State Attorney General's Office is conducting investigations and removing bodies for medical examinations and identification. The Interinstitutional Group, headed by the State Attorney General's Office, is also patrolling the region to establish responsibilities and ensure peace in the area.

The confrontation is taking place from various points on a hill, with no further information available about the specific communities involved. The Interinstitutional Group's efforts to bring peace to the region and bring those responsible to justice continue.

This is not the first time violence has plagued the region. Last Monday, the State Attorney General's Office reported an incident in the Nueva Morelia ejido. The ongoing violence has displaced residents and caused widespread fear and uncertainty.

As the situation unfolds, our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected by this senseless violence. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
