German Man Arrested for Assault at Schwerin Market

A 40-year-old German man has been arrested in connection with a violent incident at the Dreescher Market in Schwerin, police confirmed on Sunday. The suspect, who resides near the scene of the incident, was found after a breath alcohol test showed a value of over 2 promille.

According to the Police Headquarters Rostock, the man is suspected of physically assaulting and injuring a 25-year-old Togolese man with a glass bottle. The victim sustained minor injuries in the attack, which occurred on Saturday evening.

Three individuals are believed to be involved in the incident, but the identities of the second and third suspects have not been released. Police are conducting extensive investigations and interviews with officers present at the scene, as well as reviewing surveillance footage.

The incident began with a verbal abuse, which the victim reported to the police around 22:20. A 25-year-old German suspect and two other individuals are believed to have been involved in the verbal abuse.

A blood sample was taken from the 40-year-old German suspect for further analysis. The police are investigating for dangerous bodily harm and insult.
