Volkshochschule Unveils Its Annual Programme for 2025-2026

The Adult Education Centre of Guetersloh has unveiled an extensive programme for the upcoming year, promising a diverse range of topics and events for the city's residents and visitors.

Highlights of the programme include the annual celebration of various aspects of society, sustainability, culture, health, languages, and digitalization. The programme will kick off on August 21, 2025, with the launch of the "Guetersloh Clarifies - Expanding Health Competence" project, funded by the Innovation Fund of the state of NRW. This project offers over 70 free events, including new offerings in the areas of law and finance, as well as housing.

In the area of human and society, the focus will be on coexistence in diversity. Sara Buschmann will present her book "The Book You Should Have Read Before Becoming a Single Parent," providing valuable insights for those navigating the journey of single parenthood.

Literature enthusiasts can look forward to events around the 150th birthday of Thomas Mann, while those interested in global fair trade can attend a report by Erika Engelbrecht on the roots of fair trade worldwide and 30 years of fair trade in Guetersloh.

The Language Program covers 21 languages, with English having 88 courses, including the new "Turbo English B1" for apprentices. The programme will also feature collaborations with the German-French Society and the German-Polish Society of GΓΌtersloh, enhancing the offering with cultural and linguistic focuses.

Successful city tours will be offered in Ukrainian and easy-to-understand language, promoting cultural exchange and understanding. The centre also caters to people with limitations, with special offerings such as yoga for the deaf, cooking courses for visually impaired people, and relaxation offerings for people with cancer experience.

The Career and Digital section addresses current developments in the world of work, offering practical courses on Artificial Intelligence, Content Marketing, and career reorientation, as well as low-threshold digital participation formats for seniors and people with disabilities.

Around 300 courses are offered that deal with resilience, movement, relaxation, nutrition, and personality development. Workshops on acrylic painting, paper cutting, and drone photography are included in the programme.

The centre invites people of all ages and backgrounds to further their education. Notable events include Ira Peter's address on "German Enough? - Why We Finally Need to Talk About Russian Germans," and a bicycle excursion to the Kunsthaus Rietberg.

Lastly, educational vacations are significantly expanded, and international online visits enable virtual encounters with countries in Europe and overseas. This promises to be an enriching and engaging programme for the Guetersloh community and beyond.
