Volkswagen unveils four electric vehicle prototypes in anticipation of their presentation at IAA Mobility 2025.
Volkswagen AG has announced its ambitious plans to expand its electric vehicle lineup, with the introduction of several new electric cars under its brands - Volkswagen, Skoda, Seat, and Cupra. The highlight of this expansion is the upcoming ID. CROSS, a front-wheel drive electric compact SUV aimed at affordable electric mobility.
The ID. CROSS, which will debut as a concept car in the coming months, is built on the MEB+ architecture. It measures 4,161 mm long, 2,601 mm wheelbase, 1,839 mm wide, and 1,588 mm high, making it similar in size to the current T-Cross. The production version of the ID. CROSS is expected to launch in the market from 2026, promising a top speed of 175 kmph and a range of up to 420 km.
Under the hood, the ID. CROSS is equipped with a powertrain capable of churning out 207 bhp peak power. The car boasts a spacious interior, with a 450-litre capacity boot storage and a 25-litre frunk (front trunk). For those seeking a sportier ride, the ID. CROSS comes with 21-inch alloy wheels and special Goodyear 235/40 R21 tyres.
In addition to the ID. CROSS, Volkswagen AG's electric vehicle lineup will also include the production version of the ID. Polo, which is set to debut in the first half of 2026. The iconic Volkswagen nomenclatures, Polo and GTI, will also get electric mobility as part of this expansion.
Volkswagen's new electric cars will not only be seen under the Volkswagen brand. Brands like Skoda and Cupra will also offer new electric cars based on the Volkswagen ID concepts, including the Skoda Epiq and Cupra Raval. The production versions of these electric cars will start launching in the market from 2026.
The ID. CROSS incorporates a new design language, marking a significant step forward in Volkswagen's electric vehicle evolution. The production version of the ID. EVERY, another addition to Volkswagen's electric lineup, is scheduled to launch in 2027.
With these new electric cars, Volkswagen AG aims to provide affordable electric mobility solutions to a wider audience, further cementing its position as a leader in the global automotive industry.
