Volkswagen Unveils Electric ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI

Volkswagen has announced the upcoming release of its electric ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI, marking the German automaker's migration of well-known names into electric power. The ID. Polo will be the first electric vehicle in this new lineup.

The interior of both models will feature a clean, futuristic look, while maintaining consistency with the concepts they were based on. The ID. Polo GTI, in particular, will boast flared wheel arches, larger alloy wheels, a front diffuser, spoilers mounted on the hatch, and a chunky rear bumper.

Both the ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI will be limited to a front-wheel drive configuration and will be built on Volkswagen's MEB Entry architecture. This architecture also underpins the ID. Every1 concept and the upcoming ID. Cross.

The ID. Polo will offer two battery pack options, with the larger version promising a WLTP range of up to 450 km. The ID. Polo GTI is expected to make a little over 220 bhp.

Sleek LED headlamps and taillights grace the exterior of these upcoming electric hatchbacks, adding to their modern aesthetic. Inside, a 12.9-inch infotainment display and a 10.9-inch digital driver's display will provide a user-friendly interface. The models will also feature a range of physical controls.

Volkswagen has decided to use established names for its electric portfolio, a decision that CEO, Thomas Schafer, believes is crucial. He stated that the company's model names are firmly anchored in people's minds and embody characteristics such as quality, timeless design, and technologies for all.

The ID. Polo is expected to cost right under €25,000 ( β‚Ή25.74 lakh), while official details on pricing for the ID. Polo GTI have not yet been disclosed.

Beyond the ID series, Volkswagen plans to electrify several models, including upcoming versions of the Polo and a new electric compact SUV ID Cross. The electrified Volkswagen Golf GTI is expected to be presented around the 50th anniversary of its original launch, which was in 1975, suggesting a possible reveal in 2025 at the IAA auto show.

The ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI are set to join Volkswagen's growing electric vehicle lineup, promising a blend of futuristic design, performance, and affordability.
