Volvo Unveils Its Most Advanced Electric Saloon: The ES90
Volvo has announced the development of its latest electric vehicle, the ES90. This new model is set to be the brand's most advanced electric saloon, promising a significant leap forward in Volvo's electric vehicle lineup.
The ES90 is not intended to replace the EX60 or the smaller ES60 saloon, but rather act as a standalone model. The car is being compared to luxury electric vehicles like the new BMW i5, indicating Volvo's ambition for the ES90 to compete at the highest level.
Robin Page, the chief developer of the new Volvo ES90, is leading the project. The ES90 is expected to share a platform with the EX90, Volvo's upcoming electric SUV sibling. This shared platform will likely result in similar powertrains, with a range-topping Performance model offering over 500bhp and all-wheel drive, and lesser models offering around 300bhp.
The design of the ES90 is expected to have similarities with the current S90 and the SUV sibling, the EX90. However, Volvo has been tight-lipped about the exact details, choosing to release information in a trickle between now and the ES90's debut in Sweden in March 2025.
The ES90 might act as a halo car for the Volvo brand, showcasing the latest in electric vehicle technology and design. The new Volvo ES90 electric saloon was first teased in 2024, and a leaked photo of the car has been circulating before its official debut on 5 March 2025.
The ES90 is expected to be a replacement for the far from best-selling S90. With its advanced technology, sleek design, and promising range of up to 435 miles, the ES90 is set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market.
